The Forum Shopping Centre’s Trenchers café to host
Dementia Friends support session
On Sunday 18th May, Trenchers café at The Forum Shopping Centre will host a free dementia information session at 1.00pm for members of the Sittingbourne community.
To coincide with Dementia Awareness Week, which begins on 18th May, Dementia Friends will lead the information session. The initiative aims to educate and provide support to members of the community whose friends or relatives are affected by dementia.
Francesca Donovan, Centre Manager of The Forum Shopping Centre, commented:
“Living with dementia can be a very worrying and isolating experience for those affected by the illness, and friends and family may struggle with how to behave around, or relate to, them due to the associated issues of memory loss and other difficulties. Dementia Friends take a positive approach to the illness by educating people so that they can support those close to them, and in their community, who are living with dementia.”
Although the session is informal, those wishing to attend the event are requested to contact Ash Roberts of Dementia Friends, to confirm their attendance either by email to ash-roberts@hotmail.co.uk or by calling 07903 243 273.
