On Saturday 5th October 2019, five youngsters from Sittingbourne attended the Heritage Hub in the Forum in Sittingbourne, to pick up their ‘Wheels of Time’ 2019 Top Award.
They were: Daisy Elliott, Hannah Boorman, Kieran McGahern, Ryan McGahern and Bailey Ryan.
The awards were presented by Richard Emmett, chairman of the Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne (HRGS) who run the Heritage Hub. The badges and certificates recognised that they had visited all 40 participating museums and heritage attractions across Kent.
Wheels of Time is aimed at 5-11year olds, encouraging them and their families to visit participating museums and heritage attractions to learn more about the rich history of the county of Kent. Children participating in Wheels of Time have fun exploring Kent’s museums and heritage sites following Roamin’ Rex’s map. They collect a free badge which is individual to each site. They can claim Roamin’ Rex’s Award Badge badges for vesting 10, 20 and 30 sites and a Wheels of Time 2019 Top Award badge for visiting all 40 sites.
Richard Emmett said…” We were delighted that Daisy, Hannah, Kieran, Ryan and Bailey chose the Heritage Hub to receive their Top Awards...it is where they started their journey with Wheels of Time!”
The Wheels of Time scheme is sponsored by Kent County Council, Swale Borough Council, The Brett Group, The Auston Trust and the South East Museum Development Programme and is also part of the Kent Children’s University programme.
