Specsavers’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party raises over £520 for Macmillan Cancer Support at The Forum Shopping Centre!

Staff at Specsavers in The Forum Shopping Centre, Sittingbourne, are thrilled to announce they have raised over £520 for Macmillan Cancer Support as they hosted their Mad Hatters Tea Party on Friday 26th September as part of the Macmillan Coffee Morning.

The Specsavers team dressed up as well-known characters from the children’s classic Alice in Wonderland and offered shoppers free coffee and cake in return for donations to the charity. The store also held a tombola and bake sale to encourage further donations.

Local resident Peter Clarke from Newington donated a staggering £160 from an Ice Bucket Challenge he had done in the week after receiving sponsorship from members of the Medway History Finders Club.

Sarah Gilliam, Manager of Specsavers in The Forum, commented:

“We are blown away with how much we raised from our Macmillan Mad Hatters Tea Party. We hoped to raise around £300 and so we are over the moon with the £521 total that our generous customers helped us achieve. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that popped by on Friday and helped us smash our target!”

Rachel Jenman, Centre Manager of The Forum Shopping Centre, also added:

“We are thrilled that Specsavers hosted this very special event. Without fundraising days such as these, charities like Macmillan would not be able to continue the incredible work they do. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer so it is vital we continue to support this life saving charity.”
